It is not just Huawei and Samsung who are getting into the foldable handset segment. Almost everybody is doing it, comprising Xiaomi and OPPO along with Microsoft. The ones you do not hope to be making such moves are those who are grappling to even stay in the race. And yet, shockingly enough, Sony is speculated to be doing exactly that. Even better, it will launch a rollable “Nautilus Design” when others can hardly do easy foldable displays.
Sony is certainly the last firm you would anticipate to be operating on a foldable handset. It is not in the race but its mobile sector has witnessed better days. It focuses on LCD displays that might be a poor selection for flexible displays. Lastly, Sony’s advertised aims for its handsets are to be entertainment machines that are possibly not a fine match for such foldable handsets either.
And yet that is what the firm is speculated to be doing, as per Max J., also known as @Samsung_News_. The Twitter user is more well-liked for his Samsung news so it is a tad shocking that he is making a Sony news now.
As per the information, the Sony handset will operate on a Snapdragon 855 by Qualcomm with an X50 modem. It will have a 10x zoom camera and a 3,230 mAh battery, something no Sony handset has yet either. Most appealing, however, is the mention about a “Nautilus Design”, cluing at a rollable display not unlike what Samsung displayed 3 Years back, except rather developed by LG.
On a related note, earlier Sony launched the WF-1000XM3 ($230) premium noise canceling wireless earbuds. The pair shows some of the firm’s tech from 2018 excellent over-ear devices. There is a more competent edition of noise cancelling processor of that model, the QN1e, which provides even better sound dampening.
